Anna-Maria on hair trends, tips and fails
Which current hair trend do you like best?
I'm a fan of natural hairstyles, just whatever feels good. Personally, I like to wear waves, but done so it doesn't look done.
How do you like to wear your hair in daily life?
If I'm in a hurry, I like to wear a messy bun. It keeps my hair out of my face, so it doesn't bother me.
What's your insider tip for a glamorous hairstyle?
If you have no tools handy, I think braids are always nice. If I need to get a chic look quickly, without preparation, I braid my own hair and it instantly looks glamorous.
What was your biggest hair faux pas?
A few years ago, I tried to cut my own fringe and unfortunately it turned out pretty weird. I tried to balance it, but it just got worse and kept getting shorter. At some point, I gave up, pinned the failed fringe to one side and let it grow out.
What's your ultimate hair secret?
I think dry tips are the worst. If you want to grow your hair, it is important to keep it moisturized, so you don't get split ends. I try to use a mask once a week and always use conditioner.
Anna-Maria shares her faves and role models
Name three hair and beauty products you always carry in your travel bag.
Dry shampoo, to make my hair look voluminous. It's great if you have no time to wash your hair, or as a refresher after a flight. I like to spray Schwarzkopf Gliss Oil Elixir on my hair, for example when I'm on vacation and my hair is stressed from salt water or too much sun. It keeps my hair nice and moisturized. And no matter where I go, I always have a highlighter, because I think it improves every look and brings freshness to the face.
Who is a real role model for you and why?
I admire women who wear short hair. Not everyone can and it's a look that makes you unique. Anyone can wear long hair. For a short haircut, first of all you have to work up the courage and then it really has to suit you. Selena Gomez currently has blonde short hair and it's awesome on her.
Who inspires you?
My family, my friends and my community inspire me every day. If I have any questions, they always have the right answer and I love being able to exchange ideas and meeting so many different people every day. That's why I really enjoy what I do.
If you could be someone else for a day, whose life would you want to live?
I've been following the Kardashians for a while, and I'm particularly interested in Kylie, because she just had a baby and I'm having mine soon. I think I would like to trade places for a day to see what life is like with a baby and how she handles her new life.
Anna-Maria on self-love and confidence
What do you like most about yourself?
I really like my hair. I have always been very happy with it, because it's unfussy. My hair is also a self-esteem booster, because with beautiful hair you feel much better and more confident. If that's what you feel, that's what you naturally radiate. I also feel better wearing make-up. I have acne scars, which sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable, especially when I work with so many people who have perfect skin.
What's your ultimate confidence booster?
Having my friends around me makes me feel good and safe. No matter where I go, I always have my sister or my friends around.
... inner beauty. You should always be friendly, no matter how unfriendly the others are to you. Actually, you should be twice as nice in return. Think positive - that's beauty for me.
Which hairstyle is 100% you?
Open, loose waves ... I like being very natural and casual, not too styled.
Instagram or YouTube?
I couldn't possibly decide!
Hair down or pinned up?
Casual or glamorous?
Anna-Maria on success
What is the best thing about being successful?
Everything I do, I do because I enjoy it, not to be successful. Many influencers seem so stressed, they rush from A to B, have to go from one fitting to the next ... It's not like that for me at all. I really only do what I feel like doing. The most important thing for me is to have fun. When it's not fun anymore, you start seeing it as work and I have never seen any of this as a job. It's my passion, so I don't have to pretend. I am the way I am and that's the most important thing for me.
And the worst?
Success can attract the wrong people. You give up your privacy. I share everything about my life and people know everything about me. Sometimes it's scary when you meet people on the street and they just embrace you. Total strangers think they know me, because I'm so open on social media, so some situations are a bit strange. But I have never experienced anything really negative. I have no haters who insult me on the street - and I'm very grateful for that.
What's your favorite item in your wardrobe?
At the moment I don't have that much choice because of my pregnancy, so it's difficult to find something that fits well and is comfortable. Currently, my favorite item is a pair of black pregnancy leggings that I wear with everything and that are very comfortable.
