Summer Hair Styles 2011: The Not so Proper Chignon

The Style:

The high chignon is a traditional hair style. It looks great throughout the day and is glamorous enough for festive occasions. Chignons are therefore the frequent choice of designers. This is certainly true for this year’s summer hair styles. At the Mercedes Benz Fall Fashion Show 2011 in New York, Eva Minge showed cool undone versions of the chignon.

You need:

styling foam, a blow-dryer, a teasing comb, a scrunchy, hair pins and hair spray

How to Create the Style:

  • Work a walnut-sized dollop of styling foam through your hair
  • Blow-dry your hair with your head hanging upside down
  • Slightly tease the front part of your hair
  • Gather your hair high on top of your head using a scrunchy. Now pull the ponytail halfway back through the scrunchy
  • Slightly pull the gathered hair loops sideways and loop the ends of the hair around the scrunchy. Secure the created chignon with hair pins
  • Use your fingers to pull out a few strands of hair before applying some hair spray. You just created an endearing chignon style
