Summer is finally here! Temperatures are rising and you need to cool down? Check out the men's hairstyle trends for the next summer season in 2016. Those are really cool prospects!

What do music and men’s hair have in common? Exactly, both are a matter of taste! Really good taste is exhibited by this year’s Milan Fashion Week, which not only sets the fashion trends but also the hairstyles for the upcoming spring/summer season. With the soft moptop, cool gel look and elegant ponytail that have already made music history, the hairstyles are really catchy – and now they have risen in the trend charts again. Visit the gallery to see what singers, stars and artists will soon be playing in (and on) our heads again:

    Hair Trends: Soft Beatle(s)

The Beatles set a trend with the typical moptop in the early 1960s. For the spring and summer of 2016, the fashion label MSGM is presenting a reinterpretation in an understated undone version. Unlike the model from the 60s, the ears are now exposed. The top hair is precisely layered and transitions to the typical fringe at the front, which falls just above the eyebrows.

Styling: All you need is... Hair gel! Spread a hazelnut-sized amount on your fingers and distribute through the top hair – so the style maintains its texture and the modern undone look

Gucci sticks to the classics, at least when it comes to the boy band! The Italian luxury label allowed itself to be inspired by the Backstreet Boys, giving the typical nineties 'Nick Carter style' an upgrade with a centre parting: Instead of sleek, it is now worn with a wavy hairline – oh yeah!

Styling: Everybody... needs a tennis ball sized amount of mousse. Distribute through towel-dried hair and form a centre parting. Blow dry the top hair into waves with a round brush, secure with hairspray, finished!

Gucci knows all about upgrades and not only transforms the Nick Carter commemorative look into an absolutely trendy style (previous gallery image). The hair tucked behind the ear à la Kurt Cobain loses its grunge image in 2016 and becomes a preppy style with sleekly styled hairline.

Styling: Looks like Teen Spirit... Form a parting and smooth the lengths with some hair gel to ear level. Omit the ends and tuck the mid-length hair behind the ear

'Moves like Jagger' – that should be easy with this cool gel style à la Giorgio Armani. Typically worn by: Adam Levine of Maroon 5! Who wouldn’t want to look like the smart singer or wake up next to top model Behati Prinsloo?

Styling: Not only...Sunday morning. Form a side parting and smooth the hair back diagonally with a good dose of hair gel, finished! A slight widow’s peak is permitted

    Hair Trends: Jackson (High) Five

The Jackson 5 were living the American (music) dream in 1970. With songs like 'I want you back' and 'ABC', the five celebrated mega-successes and became true style icons with their hair. The striking afro style is making its way back onto our heads in 2016. With naturally curly hair or self-styled – the tight little curls are trendy. The Italian fashion label Missoni is going one better and experimenting with various blonde hues.

Styling: Enjoy yourself... Use some hair oil to lend extra gloss to the wild curly look and apply hairspray to keep the hairline up!

How to create the cool rocker image for yourself: Style hair in the undone look, tie a bandanna (preferably black) around your head, put on a leather jacket or jeans shirt in the used look, and you are finished! At least it works with the Italian fashion label N°21.

Problems tying the bandanna? Here is an easy way:

  • 1. On a flat surface, fold the bandanna (standard size 60 x 60 cm) diagonally in the middle.

    2. Fold the tips of the bandanna up about six centimetres and continue this way until the bandanna is all folded up into a band.

    3. Carefully pick up the bandanna, wrap it around your head and loosely knot it at the back.
