Curls often have a mind of their own. Matching the most appealing hair style to your personal style can therefore be quite a challenge. Our hair style consultation supplies you with an arsenal of hair style examples and styling tips

  • There is the image of the feminine happy-go-lucky curly top – and then there is the daily fight with those unruly curls. It can be a bit of a challenge to match your curly hair style to your personality and your styling habits. Of course, your curls should also show all their natural appeal. We start each consultation by discussing proper haircuts, which make or break the hair style.

  • Hair Style Consultation for Small or Large Curls

In our style consultation, we address small and large curls separately because every hair structure requires its own styling rules. Small curls tend to pull up and create tremendous volume while larger curls may actually go limb at times. You may consider opting either for a short or a markedly stepped haircut if your curls are small and tight. Stepped haircuts reduce the volume. Chin-length hair is particularly suitable for large curls. Long hair with large curls should only be slightly stepped to enhance the natural bounce of the curls.

  • General Style Consultation

Your life style adds another aspect to be considered in your hair style consultation. Would you rather not spend too much time in front of the bathroom mirror? Do you shampoo your hair very often? In such cases, a simple sporty kind of haircut is ideal for you. Classic hair styles are suitable for women who want to spend little effort on a practical hair style but still want to look stylish. Trying sophisticated hair styles is fun for everybody who loves hair styling adventures.

The looks featured in our gallery below illustrate our hair style consultations.

Hair Style Consultation: The Classic Curly Top

    The Classic Curly Top

The shoulder-length haircut is markedly stepped. A leave-in conditioner after shampooing makes styling easier. Allow your hair to dry as usual. Then create a parting using your fingers and tuck away the fringes sideways underneath the covering hair. Two crossed hair slides will securely hold the fringes. Apply some extra gloss hair spray for an evening on the town.

    Sporty Small Curls

The hair is cut short with the somewhat longer covering hair thinned out. The styling is as simple as it can be. After shampooing, the hair is combed back using a wide-toothed comb. A few curls are pulled into place and shaped with the help of a little fibre gum

    Sophisticated Small Curls

The hair is long and cut in a stepped fashion and the fringes are a prominent feature. Distribute some heat protectant in your hair after shampooing. Now use your blow-drier with diffuser attachment to dry your hair but not the fringes. Work a styling product through your fringes to keep the hair smooth. Detangle the fringes using a large-toothed comb. Now you are ready to dry your fringes using your blow-drier with attached diffuser. You may also use a flat iron if your curls are very small and tight

    Classic Style for Large Curls

The hair is long and stepped, and the fringes are long. After shampooing, work some heat protectant through your hair. Use the hair drier with diffuser attachment to blow-dry your hair. Create a side parting using your fingers. Then distribute a little hair wax in the palms of your hands before wrapping a few strands of your hair around a finger. This accentuates individual curls. A little hair spray gives the hair style sufficient hold throughout the day

    Simple Style for Large Curls

The hair is chin-long with long fringes. Spray heat protectant into your hair after shampooing. Then use the blow-drier with attached diffuser to dry your hair. Create a side parting with your fingers. It's that simple!

    Sophisticated Style for Large Curls

The shoulder-length hair with the long fringes is cut in a slightly stepped way. Distribute heat protectant through your hair after shampooing. Then use the hair drier with its diffuser attachment to blow-dry your hair. Part your hair in the middle before straightening it down to ear height using a flat iron. Apply some hair spray for the finishing touch

  • Tips for creating the hair styles shown above:

    • Allow your curls to air-dry as often as possible. Leave-in styling products prevent frizzy hair and give definition to your curls. Work a small amount of styling product through your hair before wrapping individual strands of your curls around one finger. Make sure that the hair ends don't spread apart like an old painter's brush. Now and then, this may happen anyway. In such a case, simply twist the hair ends together and wrap those strands around your finger once again.
    • In our hair style consultation, we have also shown you styles, which require straightening your curls. Allow some extra time to create these looks. Curls and in particular tight natural curls are particularly resistant to straightening or shaping in general. After the shampoo, dab your hair with a towel. Don't rub your hair dry to avoid tangled hair. Then start blow-drying the wet (not the towel-dry) hair while straightening it. Use the flat iron only after the hair is completely dry, not while it is still damp.
    • Partings should not be exacting. This often looks out of style for curly hair.
    • Curls often lack natural lustre because curly hair is usually dry and the cuticles of curls reflect light less efficiently than straight hair. Rich hair care products for curls are the answer to this problem, aside from using gloss spray as a finishing touch.
