The ponytail is among the most popular hairstyles ever. To make sure styling it does not get boring, this classic hairdo is now presenting itself with new finesse – thereby qualifying as a hot and trendy look! Knotted, wrapped, sky high or tied to the side – this is how the ponytail is being worn today

  • The ponytail has a permanent place in our hairstyling repertoire for good reason: it is simple, looks great, always works, tames hair in next to no time and even makes you look younger. Yet a special talent of the ponytail has been underestimated until now – it is very changeable. Even small hairstyle subtleties are enough to transform a simple ponytail into a trendy eye-catcher. Ponytail: Sophisticated Wrapping

This classy ponytail version surprises with a special twist: tied low at the back of the neck, it looks as though it were secured by nothing more than a strand of hair. Styling helpers like hair elastics or clips are not to be seen. You want it too? How it's done: simply leave out two broad strands of hair entirely on each side while tying. Then wrap each of them around the ponytail and secure them with one or two bobby pins concealed underneath

    Ponytail: Samurai Style

Thanks to the wrapped section, this high ponytail stays firmly in place even with very fine hair. The pretty reinforcement clearly separates the ponytail from the back of the head for a striking appearance. Here's how to give your hairdo the right kick: tie up your hair with a hair elastic at the highest point on the back of the head. Lift the ponytail slightly and firmly wrap it with a cord or fabric ribbon. The more wrapping, the more striking. Then tie it up and secure the style with hairspray

    Ponytail: Staying Loose

This hairstyle is perfect for anyone who wants something a bit more extravagant yet uncomplicated. The hair is tied up high at the back of the head and then loosened again – especially along the skull below the hair elastic. The ponytail slides down a bit in this process. For the required grip and sufficient volume, you can first apply some dry shampoo or volumising powder to your hair. This ensures that the hairstyle will not look deflated

    Ponytail: Side View

There is no need for the ponytail to always hide behind the head or neck. Instead you can reserve a prominent place for it on your shoulder. In order to do so, simply lay the hair to one side before tying it up. This appears feminine as the long hair dances around the face and neck, yet it also looks very casual and relaxed. A great ponytail! To further enhance the easy-going look, style it like they did in the Chanel show: with a baseball cap turned to the (other) side and a statement earring (just one!), you are sure to become a street style star!

    Ponytail: Sky-High

With this hairdo variant, the ponytail goes all the way to the top – right on the crown. The easiest way to accomplish this is by brushing your hair upside-down and immediately gathering it with a hair elastic. Then the ponytail can drop back loosely or be styled to the side so it plays softly around the face. A great side effect: this 'sky-high' ponytail visually lengthens the face, making it ideal to conceal a rounded head
