Valentine's Day is as good a reason as any to dress up and look seductive for a date. Who wants to look sensible, professional, or – far be it from red-blooded women - rigid on a date with the man of her dreams? Sparks should fly when you meet him this Valentine's Day! In our gallery, we show some hairstyles, which will magically work on his senses and make him desire you with abandon. Our styling tips are meant to help you get all the details right

  • Designer Domenico Dolce certainly was right on the mark with this assertion in an interview with the guys' magazine GQ: "Ask any man how he wants his woman to look on a date, and he will say: high heels, a sexy dress, and big hair … that's it, except of course lipstick". Women cannot go wrong if they take these clues to heart and wear high heels, a revealing dress, richly flowing bouncy hair, and eye-catching make-up.

Attractive dating hairstyles can be classic styles like ponytails in combination with suitable make-up and accessories. Every once in a while however, you may like to stop and think how to look feminine and alluring for your man or the man of your dreams. Big hair can be a very appealing choice. Bouncy hair like Lana Del Rey shows it in the photo, a large chignon or a voluminous mock bob will appeal to his senses.

  • Dating Hairstyles: Open Hair, Semi-Updo or Updo?

A man loves to see his woman with full red lips and long wavy hair. Open hair is therefore the hairstyle of his choice for a date. However, you may want to direct his attention to your face (especially toward your eyes and lips). In this case, you may decide to style your hair away from your face. Individual strands of hair may be released to frame your face. Alternatively, you may sleek your hair back. Adding a large wave (see the hairstyle of the Jason Wu model) softens the style and gives it a more feminine and alluring note. Semi-updos can be styled to express the best of open hairstyles and updos. Simply pull up and secure a portion of your hair and allow the rest of your hair to flow freely. There are no limits to your choices. Remember, a new and different hairstyle may create its own excitement.

In our gallery, we show our favourite dating hairstyles. In his hair styling video, Armin Morbach reveals how to use curling mousse to create softly flowing waves without a curling iron.

    Dating Hairstyle: Semi-Updo

Sarah Gadon pulled up and secured her hair on one side to a romantic hairstyle. Most of her hair flows freely and allows playful touch. This is a perfect hairstyle for a tender twosome.

Styling: Work volumising mousse through your hair before rolling strands of hair over the rod of a large-diameter curling iron in vertical direction. Hold the ends of the rolled up strand with your fingers. Randomly curl strands of hair toward the back or the front. Run your fingers through the curls to shape soft waves. You may like to use volumising powder for extra bounce. Simply use volumising powder where you want more volume.

    Dating Hairstyle: Semi-updo

Dianna Agron's long wavy hair is styled into a sensual semi-updo. Her low side hair is loosely pulled up to create a young-looking feminine impression.

Styling: Curl your hair using large rollers or a large-diameter curling iron. Allow your hair to dry and cool before styling it using your fingers. Use volumising powder on the crown of your head to create more fullness. Now pull up your lower side hair and secure it with hair slides high in the back of your head. Run your fingers through your side hair to create a loose, casual look.

    Dating Hairstyle: The Undone Braid

We discovered this model for DL 1961 Premium Denim backstage and were attracted to her nonchalant hairstyle. Her undone side braid will certainly inspire the men in her life.

Styling: Gather your hair on one side of your neckline and braid it loosely. Allow a few strands of your hair to frame your face for a soft look.

Dating Hairstyle: The Large Sleek Wave

We saw this model for Jason Wu backstage. A sleek large wave gives the otherwise austere hairstyle an enticing note.

Styling: Comb your wet hair straight. Then create the large wave by pushing the hair up. Secure this first wave using a wave or hair clip and form another pushed up wave. Allow the hair to dry before removing the wave or hair clips. Gather your hair into a chignon in the back of your head and apply extra-gloss hairspray.

    Dating Hairstyle: Wild Waves

Bond co-star Bérénice Marlohe managed to hold the attention of debonair James Bond, the 007 (played by Daniel Craig). The wild curls and the pronounced dark eye make-up are the trademark of the French actress.

Styling: Curl thin strands of hair using a curling iron. Distribute hair wax on the tips of your fingers and run your fingers through your hair to tousle the curls. Sweep your curls to one side and secure the side-swept look with a few bobby pins near the neckline. James Bond, here she comes!
